The first half of the year has flown by and Division 46’s leadership has been busy behind the scenes. We had a productive Winter Board meeting at APA headquarters that left us inspired and looking forward. As we move to the second half of the year there are many exciting opportunities ahead and we want you to join us!
1. 2019 APA Convention
Psychologists from around the world will come together August 8-11 in Chicago, IL for the 2019 APA Convention. Our Program Committee has worked hard to bring you the most compelling research and dialogue regarding the full spectrum of media psychology and technology. On August 9 at 9 AM, our Division’s past, present and future Presidents will gather to discuss the direction of Media psychology and we would love for you to join the conversation.

2. Social Hour
This year we are hosting a very special social hour the evening of Friday, August 9 at The Keith House, a distinctive 1870’s Mansion just five minutes from the convention center. The Keith House—named for the banker and merchant Elbridge Keith who built it—is one of few remaining original mansions in the area. Join us for music, drinks, awards and some media-related surprises. This event will not be listed on the Convention program so consider this as your invitation!
3. Technology, Mind and Society 2019 Conference
If the APA Convention leaves you wanting more, please consider attending the Technology, Mind & Society Conference in Washington, DC on October 3-5. The convention will provide a venue to examine a wide variety of technology-related topic areas, like big data and biotechnology, and the role that psychological science plays in each. A highlight includes a keynote address from Skip Rizzo on Virtual and Augmented Reality simulations. Division 46 is a proud sponsor of this event (see Announcement below).
4. Committees and Leadership
Our Division thrives on new voices and leadership. A big appeal of our Division is that we are small, and being a small division allows people to easily get involved and work with some of the biggest names in the field. If you aren’t already involved, please consider joining a task force or committee or running for an office.
As always, please reach out with any questions or if you would like to get more involved and we hope to see you in Chicago!
